The Rapid City Public Library

Richard Haeder

Richard was appointed to the Library Board in January 2010. His community involvement includes the RC Regional Hospital Board, American Hospital Association (“AHA”) national Committee on Governance, AHA Regional Policy Board, AARP SD State Legislative Committee, and the AARP national Legislative Committee. He is a graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Georgetown University Law School.

Richard believes our community cares about its library, and that our community also feels its library is critical to good citizenship. Good citizens will recognize these facts and will want to do their part to help their library have the resources it needs to be able to do its job. But their efforts need not be all work, either. When the work is done, the Rapid City Public Library offers unmatched opportunities for learning and for pleasure, where people come often and feel welcome and safe.

Richard’s goals include helping see to it that the Rapid City Public Library is a success in our community…That our Library is recognized as a beacon of knowledge, gathering and self-improvement…To that end, he will inquire, listen, work with his fellow Directors, and support them and support good ideas that come from anyone who has a keen interest in this library and its well being and its betterment.
