The library has now completed the renovation, layout, and furniture replacement to more effectively use the space on the Library’s main floor. This project was undertaken in response to public comments identified in the library’s strategic plan, which includes the following elements:
· Create quiet zones for research & study;
· Improve furnishing for computer use to increase access and encourage on-line research; and
· Provide comfortable furnishings which encourage relaxation & quiet reading.
In order to implement the project, the Rapid City Library Foundation’s Capital Campaign achieved a goal of $200,000 in donations.
The total project came in $69,538 under budget. The final budget spreadsheet is attached.
