Re: Summary of acoustics design meeting
The final acoustics design meeting was held on April 16, with architect Lee Geiger, RCPL Facilities Supervisor Carlos Ramirez, and Assistant Director Terri Davis.
Lee presented design plans for the acoustical remediation for the upstairs area. He is in conversation with acoustical engineer Larry Hansen for confirmation of the spacing of the ceiling baffles and the thickness of the material; Larry’s feedback will confirm that the amount of acoustical absorption is met by the design plan.
Larry Hansen identified that the remediation project will deaden sound throughout the upstairs vaulted area, and coming into and out of the upstairs meeting room. He indicated another option to consider for building a ceiling over the meeting room to medicate that specific area; this would be in addition to the ceiling baffles throughout the vaulted area that would address the other noise issues defined in the plan. This option was previously rejected by the Board due to cost and effectiveness. However, current estimated costs to add a ceiling range from $9,100 to $11,600.
