Recommendation: Approve submittal of a grant proposal to the Lois Lenski Foundation of $500 - $3,000 for youth materials.
Lois Lenski was a prolific American author and illustrator of children’s books. The Lois Lenski Foundation annually awards grants to public libraries to purchase books for young people. The foundation focuses on libraries serving economically or socially at-risk children; the population served by RCPL-North would qualify based on these criteria, although the materials could be alternated between both the North and Downtown libraries.
The grant awards range from $500 - $3,000, and are specifically for print materials for children. The grant deadline is June 15th; and can be submitted by the deadline.
