Re:       Condrey staffing study

Condrey & Associates Inc. were contracted by the city of Rapid City to develop a job classification and compensation plan.  Research for the study was obtained from comparisons with 16 cities of comparable size and geographic proximity; city-wide review and revision of position descriptions; and on-site meetings with city department heads to discuss the duties and functions of employees in their respective departments.

Condrey’s report was presented to the city in January, and recommends 27 pay grades.  The estimate for citywide implementation costs range from $2.6 and $3.1 million, depending upon the timeline for implementation.

Items that relate specifically to staffing at the Rapid City Public Library when compared to the other communities:

o   the number of FTEs is slightly less than the mean (average)
