On June 10th, the Library Board approved advertising for bids for the library’s acoustics remediation project. The plan was to advertise for bids through June and hold the bid opening at the July 8th Library Board meeting.
Based on information from Lee Geiger and Larry Hanson, the proposed timeline will be modified for an August 12th bid opening. The reason for this change is due to Larry’s recommendation that the bid packet includes the requirement that the contractors demonstrate previous experience with installation of acoustical materials. Larry stated that the project will require a specialized contractor who is experienced in acoustical work in order to properly install the materials. In addition, although the project will be advertised for open bidding, Larry would like to use the time to inform experienced companies about the project, and encourage them to submit a bid.
Lee confirmed that even with the postponement for bid opening, the projected completion date of October 31st is still realistic. The process timeline as modified is outlined below:
