Summary: In 2008, fines were either partially or fully waived from 15 patron accounts which amounted to a total reduction in fines of $1,007.25; these waivers were in accordance with the Fines Forgiving Policy.

Background: The reasons and total amounts for waivers are shown below.

The highest single occurrence for 2008 was for $340.00. This resulted from staff error when an account was not blocked properly after a card was reported stolen.

In 2007, $3,340.00 was waived after a patron reported a card stolen and the majority of the items were recovered from a pawn shop. With that exception, 2007 and 2008 were parallel in most categories.
