Annual
Meeting
President Craig DeJager called the meeting to order. There were 19
people attending the meeting. Everyone introduced themselves and told why
they belong to Friends. Minutes from the last meeting and the last Annual
Meeting were read. Keith Storms moved and Charles Palmer seconded the
motion to approve the minutes. Motion Carried. Carol Jenkins
gave the Treasurer’s report. There was $3449.93 in the Checking Account;
$34,373.69 in the Premium Savings Account; and $27.03 in the Savings
Account. The fall book sale took in $7440.43 and expenses were
$2282.48.
The
report was given by Pat McKay on the Look & Learn programs.
Craig gave the membership report and said there were 36 members and 7 new
members from the book sale.
Terri Davis and Greta
Chapman gave us a report on the library, focusing on strengths and
opportunities. Three strategic plan goals that reflect the need for the
library to fulfill both its traditional mission, as well as to meet the
community’s needs in the future are: 1) Maintain the libraries as
community gathering places for all ages. 2) Continue to develop
intuitive, mobile and user-friendly library services are all ages. 3) Increase
public awareness of existing and evolving services. They talked about the
need for volunteers especially in selecting material for the homebound.
The use of the library is up substantially from last year and the new library
is doing really well.
Old Business:
None New Business: It was talked about on updating the
Friends Website. There will be more about this in the future. The
Christmas Party will be held at the Colonial House on December 11th
at noon. Keith Storm presented the nominating committee’s report for 2009
officers. They are Pat McKay, President; John Bruni,
Vice-President; James Miller, Secretary; and Carol Jenkins, Treasurer.
The Board of Directors include: Three Year Terms: John Bruni, Tom Simmons and Nick Lucas. Two Year Terms: Pat
McKay, Francis Palmer and Chuck Palmer.
One Year Terms: James Miller, Carol Jenkins, and Craig DeJaeger.
Jon Boone moved and Tom Simmons seconded the motion to cast
a unanimous ballot. Motion Carried. Nila
Boone moved and Jon Boone seconded the motion to award $100 memorials to
Barbara Owen and Viola Smolik. Motion
Carried. Carol said people can pay their dues for next year at
any time.
There being no
further business, the meeting was adjourned.
