Summary: Overall, training in 2008 for both staff and patrons was successful and met the goals outlined for the year at the previous training annual planning session.
Staff Training:

staff training sessions have been offered in 2008

A wide- variety of training was offered
covering topics such as safety, services and programs, procedures and policies,
and customer service.

RCPL
has offered a balance of hard and soft skill training to our employees this
past year including outside training opportunities
o
Hard
skills include routine and technical components of library service
o
Soft
skills include customer service, communications, reference interviewing
·
Hard-Skill
training sessions were the majority of sessions offered in 2008
Patron Training:
·
Basic Computer Classes were offered to
patrons with little to no computer skills by the Librarian 1s
·
These classes were evaluated and the
overall ranking was excellent
· Classes were successful and well-attended given the limitations of the number of computer available for each class
