BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Community,
Governmental and Interlibrary Relations:
- The RCPL Knowledge Network
blog is linked to Library homepage.
Community agencies are able to post information for public as well
as provide links for employment, health and economic resources.
- ASFCME Library Union negotiations
began in July for the contract expiration in December 09.
- Department Director’s quarterly
Personnel Subcommittee meeting was held July 23. This meeting is for
reviewing city wide policies for recommendation to Council. Upon approval
of policies information is provided to the Library Board.
- Integrated Library System demos
are scheduled for three of four companies.
Staff
Training and Development:
- The Strategic Plan Review meeting
was held on July 23rd with staff and board members as well as Mayor Alan
Hanks in attendance.
Featured
Services and Enhancements:
- New
Electronic Resources offered by the State Library are available for
use by RCPL’s patrons. They include:
AltHealth Watch, Health Source- Complete, Health Source-
Nursing/Academic Edition, Consumer Health Complete, Career Library,
Science Reference Center, and the General Science Collection.
- Rapid City Regional Hospital has closed
their library. In order to continue
to provide public access to consumer health
resources, the hospital library donated their collection to
RCPL.
- In order to maintain interest and
increase the usefulness of the collection at RCPL-North, a plan was
implemented to rotate newer and more popular materials into that
collection on a weekly basis. This practice will be evaluated through
circulation data and patron feedback.
