Re:         Corner office demo project (space use) Engineering Costs

Recommendation: Approval of an agreement for Albertson Engineering for $3500 in engineering costs for the demo of the corner office.  This portion of the space use plan is included in the space use budget.

Explanation:  Structural engineering will need to be done before work can begin on removing the corner office; this is due to one of the walls being an old exterior part of the building. In order to accomplish this project a structural engineer is needed to draw up blue prints. The City Public Works Department chose Albertson Engineering for the job, based on their previous work for the new edition to the library and opened the exiting building into the new edition in the same area where the corner office will be removed.

Per the contract, Albertson Engineering will provide construction and bid documents, as well as construction administration.

Demo of the corner office is part of the Space Use Plan to open up the lobby area into the main floor. A public seating area is planned for this area after the demo.
