Re: Review of fines and materials removed
from patron accounts in 2007
Date: January 2, 2008
Summary
The table below identifies the amounts of
fines and charges for materials removed from patron accounts for the reasons
outlined in the Board’s policy on fine forgiveness.
You
will notice that the amount in the Policy/Procedure column below is high
($4,580). It is usually $0.00.
The $4,580 is a record keeping anomaly. Two
patrons convicted of stealing library property had their library accounts
charged for stolen property but, as part of their cooperation with the law
enforcement, the stolen materials were recovered and will be added back into
the collection. The charges on their accounts were therefore removed, but still
show up as part of this report as forgiven fines.
Total Amount Deleted: $63,527.22; Total Number
of Items Lost: 1,738
