BOARD OF TRUSTEES
ADMINISTRATION
Community, Governmental and Interlibrary Relations: G. Chapman attended
meetings in Pierre Jan. 15, 16 and 17 for SDLA Legislative Day, a Board meeting
and the State Library Board meeting, continued attendance at the city
information technology transitional meetings on Friday mornings, attended
Strategic Plan Update meetings and attended SD Municipal League Day in Pierre,
Feb. 5 and 6.
Building & Grounds::
Work is scheduled for April or the beginning of May to replace broken or
cracked sidewalk panels on
Public Information
and Programming:

As part of the space use plan, new directional signs were
created for the downtown library. The
signs were created as temporary signs, and will be reviewed and evaluated prior
to replacing them with permanent signs.
The permanent signs are planned to be in place for the April Chamber
Mixer
·
Signs
were designed and installed for RCPL North at General Beadle
o
Additional
exterior signs will be placed at North upon approval by RCAS buildings and
grounds
·
Informational
brochures and fliers were created for RCPL North
For youth events, the
Discovery Days programs hosted over 100 people attending two different events,
one presented by the Humane Society of the Black Hills and the other by
Wildlife Experiences. Weekly story times 130 parents and children to the
library. The Discovery Days program and
Family Story Time will be held at RCPL North for the first time in February.
Our monthly Lunch
and Learn brought in 50 people who learned about the history of quilting and
sewing. This event was presented by the Black Hills Quilters Guild.
Outreach: A presentation
was given to a PEO organization at the library. They held one of their regular
meetings at the library and learned about the library’s services and
collections.

Staff
received training on how to use the new Homebound
database; this will facilitate and improve the tracking of Homebound deliveries
to patrons.
·
As
an efficiency measure, we are purchasing cataloging records with materials as
they are ordered; staff has begun to receive training on how to process these
items.
·
Installed
and implemented new procedures for new cash registers. These registers
eliminate the need for staff to keep duplicate cash tracking database and make
using the registers at the downtown and north locations identical.
Information
Resource Development:
·
Successfully
transferred over 3,000 materials to RCPL-North from the RCPL-Downtown
collections, in addition to adding 1,050 new materials ordered specifically for
North
·
Ask-A-Librarian
statistics continue to increase since the service was introduced nearly three
years ago. This is due in part to promotion
of the service at school outreach events such as tours and class visits
·
Set up CybraryN for patron logon to
the public computers at RCPL North.
·
Set up a VPN connection so that staff
at RCPL North can connect to files on the fileserver at the downtown library.
·
Set up the copier printer for patron
printing up at RCPL North
·
Researched Sharepoint services for the
library and city. Sharepoint Services is an online meeting/workspace for an
organization that will allow for efficient sharing and updating of documents.
