summary of changes
The library’s comprehensive policy
for materials selection has been reviewed for recommended
changes. The recommendations focus on
three primary areas:

Addition
of the

In
a previous policy revision approximately five years ago, the SD materials were
integrated with the main non-fiction and Reference collections. However, patron feedback has shown this is
not an effective method for identifying and using these materials. The recommendation is for returning to the
separate configuration for the SD materials

Removal
of the status as a
o
Patron
use has shown that the physical documents are not utilized; patrons and staff
access current state information online
o
The
Devereaux Library at SDSM&T has expressed an interest in assuming the
depository role, in keeping with their role as a research library
·
Modification
of a committee to review Statement of Concern forms
o
This
committee had previously been configured with six members. The reconfiguration calls for three members,
and retains the same reporting structure

difficulty of identifying a neutral community representative in a timely
manner, the community would be represented through the Board hearing process
