Re: Monthly Statistics Summary
- Computer
use continues to be up compared to last year due to an increase in the
number of computers in September 2005 both
in Reference and Youth Services
- Our homepage
use continues to rise as patrons utilize our online resources.
- Renewals
continue to be up due to the increased renewal allowance. Holds are also
up, possibly due to the increased renewals. We do track materials in
demand and order extra copies as needed to ensure that patrons are not
waiting longer to receive materials.

- In house
browses are up, partially due to an update in Aleph’s circulation module
which makes browsing materials easier.
- Patron
contacts are down; last year staff were answering more questions for
patrons who were unfamiliar with the new system.
- Programming
is down, partially because we have been concentrating on creating fewer
programs with a more careful focus toward community interests. The
percentage changes look large, but this is because the numbers we are
dealing with are small – two tours last year to one tour this year is a
50% drop.
- Youth
tours are up as part of the Youth Services department’s drive to increase
outreach this year.
- We had fewer computer classes this year, but greater
attendance due to the success of the Blitz classes. Blitz classes are a comprehensive
series of five classes introducing the patron to the computer and the
internet. The patron learns the fundamental components of the computer,
mouse skills, how to manipulate text and manage files.

- Materials
added is up from last year in part due to staff’s increased familiarity
with the Aleph acquisitions system. This has allowed both ordering and
receiving of materials to be more efficient.
