Re: Statistics Narrative, July-Sept 2006
Our review of this quarter shows library usage is increasing
overall.
- Circulation
numbers show a 23% over this quarter last year
- Holds and
renewals continue to grow. Possible
reasons are that:
o We
modified our renewal policy to allow up to 3 renewals
o We
are more successful in acquiring high-interest titles
- 2006
year-to-date entry count is up 16% over last year; however the July
–September quarter has remained stable at an average of about 35,000
patrons per month.
- Drive-up
window use remains about 1% of the monthly gate count. We believe we need to market this service
more aggressively to make more people aware of the convenience factor.
- Electronic Access (computer usage) is increasing
again in September after a dip in August. Year to date, computer usage is
up 51%. There are several reasons for this increase:
- We have 11 more public access computers than we
had in 2005
- E-mail computer hours are counted this year but
were not last year; this more accurately reflects the overall computer
use
- There is an increasing societal trend to access
information via the Internet.
- Patron
contacts are up in some areas and down in others. Overall, they have remained
relatively stable.
- The
year-to-date graph below shows that there has been a steady, overall
increases in new Pennington
County borrowers; compared to 2005, we have had 50% increase of Adult new
borrowers and an 83% increase of Youth borrowers.
