Re:       Coffee shop update

Staff is contacting area coffee shops to determine their interest in submitting a proposal for a library coffee shop.  To date, the following shops have been contacted:

Java’s Brewing – submitted a proposal to provide a concession for coffee service.

Dunn Brothers – the manager came to the library to look at the main floor space.  He has an appointment scheduled with Terri on September 12.

Cappuccino Charlie’s – per a phone call on September 7, the owner, Donnie Patten, will speak to his partner, who may come to the library to look at the space.  Donnie indicated they tried to operate a self-contained service at the hospital, and the inconvenience of not having plumbing outweighed the benefits for him.

Black Hills Coffee Company – although they’re not set up to be a self-contained operation, they were interested in looking over the RFP.  The RFP form was sent to them on August 22; however, after repeated calls and messages, they have not responded.

Café Latte – this shop is for sale; the person taking the call indicated they would not be interested for that reason.

Black Hills Blends – this firm operates many of the free-standing coffee kiosks in parking lots.  They have not responded to numerous calls and messages.
