Re: Community Partnering Program
The memo is provided for a newly developed library staff model about public awareness through a niche market. The effort was quite fruitful both in relationship building for public awareness and a bonus outcome of a funding donation. Public awareness was the primary intention and the model has been adapted to include future funding donations.
In June, the Reference Department began a project to promote and highlight portions of the library’s non-fiction collections to local community groups. The goal is to use the community groups’ expertise in developing specific areas of the collections, and to increase use of those materials.
Highlights of the first program contact included:
· Contacting the Black Hills Fly-Fishing (BHFF) organization
·
Hans Christenson of the BHFF met with
o Fly fishing group donated $500 to the library to help purchase these materials
o Hans
and
· Hans also agreed to do a program for the library on fly fishing which will take place in April of 2006
Community partners will be recognized with possible programs, announcements to promote the new and existing titles of interest, and in our library newsletter. The reference staff has developed a schedule of staff assignments to systematically approach all community organizations.
