Re: IMLS grant proposal

Action needed: Approve submission of an IMLS grant proposal under the program of Librarians in the 21^st Century.

Information was shared with the Board at the January 2005 meeting regarding a possible project to be submitted to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for grant funding.

The proposal has been developed based on the need for adult information literacy (IL) training – teaching the skills to access, evaluate, and effectively use information. The purpose of the project is to identify a relevant set of IL skill standards and create a curriculum for teaching those standards to adult library users.

Attached for your review is a copy of the grant activities, budget, and abstract. The proposal deadline is December 15, 2005.
