·         ½ page advertisement of SRP activities published in the Summer Recreation Activities booklet distributed in the Rapid City Journal April 16th  (40,000+ circulation)

Web site homepage headline/Dragon HQ web page(s)

Target Audience: All ages interested in participating in the Youth Services SRP program

  • Special “Dragon Headquarters” page devoted to SRP information.  Page(s) will

             continually update “dragon sightings”
             identifying when the SRP dragon will
             appear in the community.

Standard publicity

Newsletter:

    Front page article listing with all events and

    activities (1400+ print publication, 350+ email

    notification, issue posted on website.  Newsletter
    released by 1st of the month)

 

PSAs to newspaper/magazines, radio stations and television stations:

      May 1 - Entire SRP schedule given to
         television and newspaper/magazines

      2 week PSAs – announcements for individual
         events submitted to radio stations 2 weeks
         before occurrence
      24 hr. before event – individual events
         re-advertised to television stations 24 hr.
         before occurrence

 

Journal Calendar:

      Weekly listing of events and activities

 

Signs:

     In house – signs for each event posted a min.
     of 2 weeks before occurrence

 Flyers:

     1/2 sheet flyer of all events available on
      information board and at YS desk
      beginning May 1

 

KNBN Newscenter 1 Morning Show:

     Regularly scheduled (2nd Wed. of the month –
     May 11, June 8th and July 13th)

RCAS outreach

 

Target Audience: K through 5th grade students at RCAS schools (5700+ students)

  • YS staff visit to each elementary school.  Presentation includes a story time, description of SRP and distribution of ½ page flyer listing all SRP events and activities

Summer Reading Logs

Target:  All ages of children eligible to participate in reading for 30, 60 and 90 days

  • Reading Log available for tracking each day participants read
