Re: Updates and discussion points to CIP |

Items in red are updated feedback from CIP meeting held

The library asks for three projects to be reviewed by CIP, for inclusion on their project list: |
|
|
|
Acoustics – estimated at $30,000-$50,000; the library will
provide $20,000 of this amount. The
library is seeking consultant services in accordance with the consultant
guidelines. Addressing the library’s
acoustical issues was anticipated as a possible project. The initial
feedback from consultants is that there are aesthetically pleasing solutions
for this problem. This was denied as a funding
request due to the number of other requests at this time. This project will be paid from the Auxiliary
Budget. |

|
Roof – we understand that replacement of the roof on the main
building will fall under consideration with the city’s review of all city
building roofs. If possible, we would
like to determine where the library is in that review plan for roof repair. This is planned for funding out of CIP as the priority city
roof to be fixed. Est. cost is $200,000. Available annual funding for city
roofing needs is $100,000. Additional funding will be found within CIP
budget. |

|
HVAC – estimated to be $17,000 – we would like this considered
for CIP funding if it meets the criteria.
The proposal is to reconfigure the library’s
remaining 20-year-old pneumatic HVAC controllers to a digital system, as is
used in the new portion of the building, thereby gaining better temperature
control and energy efficiency. This
would also allow the energy plant to monitor the entire system. City Project Engineer Rod Johnson and Public Works Director
Dirk Jablonski are researching grant funding resources at this time. |
