NEH  Sept. 2006 application available $500,000 ea. for 2007.

State Library has access to Dept. grant writer

2007 NEH grants based on information from previous grant funding and located with State Library and State Archives

 

                                    Definition of Newspapers –

                                    Phase 1 and 2 = City and County General Interest Newspaper

                                   

 

Phase 1, two goals historical and current issues. Seek grant funding for Pre 1923 and state funding for current newspapers.

Phase 2, 1923 – 1990’s, pursued after implementation of Phase 1 with the goal to have all newspapers digitized and available online.

                                    Phase 3 – Special Interest Newspapers

                                    Passed unanimously.

 

Current – Vendor services - State Legislature 2006 (access to RC at the

library, discussion of statewide access)

If your newspaper is not in the SDNA Association belonging is a

way to get your newspaper digitized.

                                   

Current newspaper articles would be available through the vendor services. If not available through SDNA, another vendor would be provided. Currency is determined by the vendor, typically from present to several years previous. Passed unanimously.

§         Ebscohost – no major papers

§         Rapid City Journal – same service as Newsbank – RC
