The basic function of the Magazine collection is two-fold.
First, it is designed to supply current information |

1. Determine community interests for subjects
that do not have a viewpoint (e.g. quilting, woodworking) and select titles
based on: |

b. Popularity |

in the collection that our patrons use |

ii. New titles that reflect our patrons’ or
non-patrons’ interests |

2. Determine community interests for subjects
with viewpoints and select titles based on: |

in the collection that our patrons use |

ii. New titles reflecting our patrons’ and
non-patrons’ viewpoints |

iii. Balance is achieved by insuring that all
significant viewpoints in the community are represented in the collection |

Retention specifics:
Magazines will be retained for
the current calendar year plus one year back issues. Back
issues are retained only for magazines
for which a current subscription is
held. The retention period for each title is maintained in the online magazine |
