Re:       IMLS proposal update

At the November 16th Library Board meeting, the Board requested clarification of some items related to the IMLS grant proposal.  Specifically, they asked for the impact on our staff with the project, and who the partners are.

As outlined in the grant proposal, you as Library Director will oversee administration of the grant.  Reference staff would conduct initial research of the literature and identify Information Literacy standards.  A Curriculum Specialist / Trainer would be a contracted position, paid for from the grant funds; this individual would develop the curriculum based on the research, testing, and participants’ input, and would train staff in the various partner libraries.

The library will provide an in-kind contribution of the salaries for those involved in the literature review process.

The 18 partner libraries are outlined below.  In addition to these libraries, other Rapid City organizations have agreed to serve as test audiences to research and develop the curriculum.
