Re: Staff Memo – City Attorney Accounts Summary

Over the last six months, 33 patron accounts have met the qualifications to be sent to the city attorney for action ($150 or more in overdue materials). Of those 33:

• 6 accounts have been resolved

• 14 are currently outstanding with the City Attorney

• 13 are not resolvable because the patron has moved with no forwarding address

• Of these, 9 had no forwarding address by the time the account was billed (3 months after due date)

I have been in contact with the City Attorney’s office, specifically Joel Landeen, to ascertain what

their process is once we pass these accounts on. Due to the shortage of personnel at their office,

Joel has not been able to respond to my inquiries. I am unaware of them taking any action at this time.
